Bill talks about the craft:
My experience with saxophone repair began over 33 years ago when, as a player, I began experimenting with key heights and other aspects of intonation. It quickly expanded into a professional approach of servicing and repairing the instruments for myself and local musicians. Inspired to perfect the craft, I consulted artists along the way. When it came to metal work and soldering, I sought out experienced repair people, as well as jewelers. When it came to players, I listened to the musicians and their opinions about the acoustical outcome of each repair. Now, years later, I ultimately try to maintain an environment where musicians not only seek repairs to bring their horns into reasonable playing condition, but urge them to move to more meticulous acoustical alignment.
